A PLAN

Beach
Why am I never at a place like this?
Why am I always in a dark room typing?
We all make our choices,
and I have to live with mine.
Maybe…
Too many ‘maybes.’
I need one ‘can.’
I ‘can’ escape to the tropical island.
I’ll throw my computer
into the depths
of the blue, green ocean.
Sounds good to me.
Sounds like a plan.

THE END

fire and hail

Time has stopped in mid-flight.
Clouds have ceased circling the earth.
The sun refuses to show its face.
Time has come to an end.
My heart feels hollow and empty.
Panic fills the empty spaces.
My love has come to an end
And so too has mankind.
A battle rages between my lovers
Built upon passion and deceit.
The winner takes all,
And soon even me.
The earth trembles in despair.
A blanket of darkness covers all.
The battle rages in its fury.
Clashes of swords echo its thunder.
Frozen in place I stand,
Waiting for the uncertain outcome.
Who will be left standing
to take my cold hand?

THE SUN SETS FOR US

dark nights

Take me away in the soft breeze.
Let your fingers flow through my hair.
I want to see your warm smile
And hunger for your loving touch.
Time for that is long past.
Victims of the battle we now are.
Hell is waiting for us both.
I can see his boat drifting offshore.
I will not let him take me.
I want to share paradise with you.
Warm breezes and soft winds
To wrap us tight in its cocoon.
No more glory to be had.
No more wins for our side.
Our losses are steep and many.
The mighty have fallen this night.
The sun sets for this evening.
It has not brought you back to me.
I will wait for all eternity
Until I have you by my side.

BLACK AS NIGHT

cat eyes roses

Dark as death,
Black as the night,
The evil one has come
For me tonight.
My heart pounds a beat.
He sees me and more.
He walks the dark street.
At night he’s the lore.
I cannot run.
I cannot even hide.
He knows my secrets.
He knows where I hide.
The roses are wilting.
They crumble in despair.
Their faces are tilting
Only black as they tear.
He has no footsteps.
He walks with the winds.
His body whispers past me.
Soft in the trade winds.

He takes me in flight,
Up to the laughing moon.
I can’t see his face.
I’ll be his all too soon.
I close my eyes in defeat.
His cold lips crush mine.
I search for a way to retreat.
I search for a sign.
OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN
THE DEAD GAME

TAKE ME WITH YOU

Blue sea

Take me with you.
We’ll soar to new heights.
Let’s take to the sky
And fly with the birds.
Above the clouds,
Above the mundane.
To a life worth living,
Beyond time and space.
Take me far away.

THE WEB

THE WEB
Each day we spin a web.
A web of lies.
White lies.
Deadly lies.
Fake smiles.
Untrue feelings.
Keep spinning.
Until it ties you up
Into one tight knot.

PINK FANTASY

Pink Castle
PINK FANTASY
I dream of a place
Where time stands still.
Petals fly from trees.
A pink hue cast on all.
Climb the stairs to the castle,
Where fantasies come to life.
The warm breeze carries music
On swirling rainbows of light.
Pretty maidens dance in circles
Around the courtyard of flowers.
Men become drunk on giggles
And flirty stares cast their way.
Who is the ruler of this paradise?
It is I, the dreamer of dreams.

TO THE LIGHT

TO THE LIGHT
Bring me to the light
Where demons don’t dwell,
And colors appear to soothe my tired soul.
A rainbow of delights engulfs me.
Raindrops fall to wash my tears.
Music surrounds me in a heartbeat.
I am not alone.
Others have found this paradise.
A place to quiet the wandering beast.
Arms lift me.
Roses entomb me.
I am here at last.
I’ve made it to paradise.

BLOOD RED ROSE

Blood red rose.
Petals open.
To the sun.
Don’t shy away from me.
Don’t turn your face.
I’ve come to receive your love.
Your compassion.
Your petals are closing.
Dew is dripping.
And I am leaving.

GOODBYE OLD FRIEND

GOODBYE OLD FRIEND
The world is changing.
Forests are dying.
Animals are becoming extinct.
Nature has taken control.
Days are warmer.
Rain falls harder.
Earthquakes rock the planet.
Hurricanes bring the winds.
Ocean waves dance to the deadly tune.
Bow to our new foe, Mother Nature.
Crime does its share,
But nature cleans the slate.
Towns and cities topple
Beneath the rubble.
The salt water hits my face
As I watch the waves rise.
I wait for the beautiful sight
To turn deadly and reckless.
The laps at the shore
Become heavy slaps.
Rocks and debris are
Thrown to the wind.
Soon I am drenched.
The ocean has come ashore
To wreck havoc on our lives.
My eyes tear as I search for
the ocean’s lost beauty.
I search for the camaraderie of
My old friend who’d soothed my fears.
My friend is long gone.
All is gone.
And so will we.
