DARKNESS OF HELL

The sky is fading.
The moon is leaving.
I’m falling down a pit.
Into the darkness of hell.
Where men don’t go.
And The Dead rule.
You must save me.
From my sad fate.
I won’t leave.
Without a brave fight.

HEAVENLY LIGHT

  1. Darkness blankets the earth.
    One town glows with light.
    They are the ones chosen
To walk in the heavenly light.
    Their fate is determined
By a random toss of the dice.
    Nature’s specialty.
    Who will live?
    Who will die?
    A toss of the dice
    Supplies the answer.

OASIS IN THE DARK

The moon shines bright on us all.
It has made the sun’s face fall.
It takes over the night from now on.
No more heat from its favorite sun.
Oasis will exist in the dark.
It’s scary in this deserted park.
I must get home before it’s too late.
Before my fate is sealed on this date.

HIS PAWN

The Dead are coming to this place.
The moon trembles and bows its face.
Thunder stikes a chord in the distance.
No one can mount a strong resistance.

Lightning sizzles and dances in place.
Soon red and yellow strikes join the race.
I can see them returning in force.
Wolf is riding in on a black horse.

He leads his army to town.
He’s wearing a wicked frown.
I know he’s searching for me.
Quiet as a mouse I’ll be.

But soon he finds my hiding place.
Blaring trumpets pick up his pace.
Time has come to a sudden stop.
He stares at me from bottom to top.

He wants me for his frozen bride.
Too late for me to run or hide.
I stand up straight to meet him.
You could hear a dropping pin.

He takes me into his arms for a kiss.
But all I want to do is yell and hiss.
I don’t want to be one of The Dead.
I walk behind him with growing dread.

The battle lines have been drawn.
And I’m merely Wolf’s small pawn.
I pray Todd saves me instead
From a fate much worse than dead.

THE DOOR BECKONS

Wooden Door, Orvieto, Italy © Doug Hickok  All Rights Reserved

The door beckons.
It opens.
Into the darkness.
Into the quiet.
We step inside.
It locks behind us.
The silence envelopes us.
It carries us to our destination.
To the dark chambers.
Beneath the house.
Where our fate awaits us.
