The sea flows through me.
I’m part of it, you see.
Water fills my cells.
It rings all my bells.
Sunlight keeps me warm.
Nature is true to form.
It protects us.
It nurtures us.
We’re all connected.
No less is expected.

DIE

Not so easy to kill The Dead.
A knife through the eye.
Won’t kill them.
A drink of poison.
Won’t kill them.
Let’s add some sunlight.
A sure hot spot for them.
A beheading for dinner.
Will clear the riffraff away.
A witch’s spell could do the trick.
Be careful of your weapon of choice.
The Dead don’t die easily.

A QUIET SPOT

In a quiet spot.
On a soft chair.
In the sun’s spotlight.
I will read a book.
Eyes wide open.
Mind set to explore.
Sunlight streaming in.
I will read a book.
Hands trembling.
Tears falling.
Sun warming my body.
I will read a book.

GOODBYE MOON

Hello moon.
Hello night sky.
Hello cold night air.
Goodbye sunlight.
Goodbye warmth.
Goodbye safety.
Hello moon.

ALONE

 Alison Scarpulla

ALONE
Alone with my thoughts.
Lost in my dreams.
A deserted forest.
Empty of people.
Devoid of sound.
No movement.
No sunlight.
Only endless trees.
Where my thoughts ring
Loud and clear.

WATCHING ME

Who is watching me from the water?
Something is bobbing beneath the waves.
Is it a person?
It’s coming closer to shore.
Yellow eyes sparkling in the sunlight.
Green skin with yellow spots.
Music from “Jaws” in my head.
My over-active imagination.
I must run.
Before it catches me.
Wait!
A man is rising from the waves.
A man in a wet suit.
All is safe.
The yellow spots were only

reflections from the sun.
Ouch!
I’m shot!
He shot me.
He shot me with a spear gun.
Too late.
I’m falling down.
Will I wake up again?
Was this a bad dream?
I hope so.
