REMEMBER THE JOURNEY

Remember the journey.
Not its end point.
Not its goal.
But the struggle to achieve it.
Look ahead into the distance.
Remember what’s key.
Remember the journey.
For future adventures.
For future battles.
Remember the journey.

TO BE A BIRD

Rise and Shine by Sabir Ayaz

Should I keep flying,
Or join my friends?
So many choices.
All are good.
The sun is setting,
warming my feathers.
My friends are swimming
with the current.
They look happy.
Content.
A beautiful day.
To be alive.
To be a bird.

HARD CHOICES

Hard choices.
Which one to choose?
Both lead to darkness
and despair.
Some decisions don’t
have happy endings.
But we are forced to choose.
Which one?
What to do?
Such is life.
Close your eyes and pick one.
Happy trails.

A PLAN

Why am I never at a place like this?
Why am I always in a dark room typing?
We all make our choices,
and I have to live with mine.
Maybe…
Too many ‘maybes’ in this world.
I need one ‘could’,
and then I’m off to the tropical island.
On the way, I’ll throw my computer
into the depths of the blue, green water.
Sounds good to me.
Sounds like a plan.

CHOICES

Should we go up?
Climb the stairs of our ambitions.
Should we walk down?
Tired of expectations.
Or we can wait downstairs.
Wait for the best opportunities
To come to us.
And there’s the door.
Give up on it all.

NOT THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD

NOT THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD
This is not the famous Yellow Brick Road
that will lead you to fantasies.
This is the road of reality
that will lead you to your future.
This road is determined by your life choices.
It is created by you and for you.
Do you still want to travel this road?
Be careful of its twists and turns.
It’s a ride of a lifetime.

The Husband Store

The joke is on us.

doors

A brand new store has just opened in New York City that sells Husbands.
When women go to choose a husband, they have to follow the instructions at the entrance:
You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are 6 floors and the value of
the products increase as you ascend the flights. You may choose any item
from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you
CANNOT go back down except to exit the building.
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.
The 1st floor sign on the door reads:
Floor 1: These men have jobs.
The 2nd floor sign reads:
Floor 2: These men have Jobs and Love Kids.
The 3rd floor sign reads:
Floor 3: These men have Jobs, Love Kids and are extremely good looking.
“Wow,” she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the 4th floor and the sign reads:
Floor 4: These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and help with Housework.
“Oh, mercy me!” she exclaims, “I can hardly stand it!”
Still, she goes to the 5th floor and sign reads:
Floor 5: These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, help with Housework and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the 6th floor and the sign reads:
Floor 6: You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor.
There are no men on this floor.
This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
To avoid gender bias charges, the store’s owner opens a New Wives store just across the street.
The 1st first floor has wives that love sex.
The 2nd floor has wives that love sex and have money.
The 3rd,4th, 5th and 6th floors have never been visited.

INDECISION

LAISSE SÉPARÉ
©Matthew Custar

An abstract picture?
What do you see?
I see a man caught.
Caught in indecision.
The large ball,
far from him.
The small ball,
closer to his reach.
Indecision rules the world.
Don’t get caught.

WHAT DO I WANT TO BE?

160121.

What do I want to be?
Square or round?
So many choices.
So many options.
Limitless possibilities.
