A GLASS HOUSE

The Glass House at Candlewood Cabins, Wisconsin.

A glass house reveals all.
No secrets hidden.
No bodies buried.
No whispers unheard.

HOTTER THAN HELL

Hotter than hell is their playground.
Beneath layers of rocks and dirt.
They wait for their day of salvation.
When they can ride in the storm.
They grow impatient for the invasion.
The end of life as we know it.
I can hear their cries blowing in the wind.
The whispers brought forth from below.
It’s time for us to gather ammunition.
Before our poor town is nothing at all.

ALIENATED

Some days I feel alienated
from the people around me.
They talk and walk like me
but their words are strange.
Thoughts of a different tongue.
Humor of a separate species.
Lovers of everything Kardashian.
Clothes made from the same cloth.
Clones of the lowest elements.
What happened to individuality?
What happened to modesty and charm?
Lost to our race.
Lost in the wake of selfies.

WHISPERS

Source:

Should I stay?
Or should I go?
The island calls to me.
It whispers my name.
The bridge sighs.
It weeps for me.
I will walk across.
It wobbles to and fro.
I hold tight to the ropes.
One step gives way.
So does the next.
The sides unravel.
It hangs by strings.
I can’t go back.
Or forward.
Time stands still.
Then I’m falling.
Water so cold.
Hits my face hard.
Silence takes it turn.
Water covers the rest.

A SIGH OF NIGHT

Epiphanie © Etienne Cabran

It’s here.
Too near.
A mist of white.
A sigh of night.
Through the window.
“You friend or foe?”
A cold touch of ice.
Doesn’t feel too nice.
It now whispers away,
“You’re not welcome to stay.”
I’m leaving now.
I don’t care how.
Fingers wrap around my neck.
On my cheek I feel a peck.
Could that be a kiss?
Wasn’t hard to miss.
I’m chilled to the bone.
I’ve turned to cold stone.
