A HAUNTED PARTY

A party at End House.
A surprise party for us.
It’s dark inside.
And deserted.
Look at the curving staircase.
Creepy gargoyle stand guard.
Look over there.
Candles light the way.
Down the long hallway.
Let’s follow them.
A door to the basement.
The door slams shut behind us.
And locks.
The stairs are slippery.
Why are my feet are wet?
We’re standing in cold water.
What’s that noise?
Machines creaking.
Cages are descending.
They have pointy edges.
Circular saws sweep across the water.
Help!

THE STAIRCASE

THE STAIRCASE
Follow the gargoyles to their master.
Follow the staircase to its source.
Take me down under
To the darkness in us all.

Beneath End House lies the answers
To questions asked from times gone by.
The unearthly dungeons and mazes
Will lead our way through hell and beyond.

I know others have gone before me
To the place deep in the earth.
The door will open for me
And no other before or after.

Hell has unleashed its prized possessions
To torment the innocent and needy.
Even with their human bodies
They cannot hide forever from my wrath.

DARK AS SIN

Friday the 13th is here.
There is nothing to fear.
My gargoyle friends are waiting.
Their stares are somewhat scathing.
But the night is still young.
The noose is already hung.
Bats fly around the old house.
They squeak like a little mouse.
Lightning sizzles as it plays.
Over the dark house it stays.
Thunder rumbles in pain.
Loud noises but no rain.
The door opens wide.
There’s no place to hide.
We might as well go in.
inside looks dark as sin.

END HOUSE

It welcomes.
It creaks.
It sighs.
Its door opens.
Candlelight streams out.
We peak inside.
Grim faces stare back.
Gargoyles stand sentinel
along the curving staircase.
A wind brushes our skin
with its unseen fingers.
Candles light the way
down the right hall.
Shadows move and sway
with the flickering candles.
The door locks behind us.
We’re in for the ride.
End House has spoken.

FRIDAY THE 13th

End House sits at the edge of a cliff,
overlooking the raging waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
A party is being given on Friday the 13th.
Black invitations have been sent out.
Guests are arriving to meet the unknown host.
Past owners have disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Linda and her friends have been hesitant to attend.
But their curiosity has brought them here this night.
No one greets them at the front door.
Gargoyles grin from their positions on the staircase.
All is dark except for the lit sconces and candles.
The flickering sconces reveal a hallway to the right.
Candles along the banister show the way up.
Should they stay or leave before it’s too late?
Should they check the outdoor pool
or the lavish pool upstairs?
It makes no difference.
Their path has been pre-determined.
This path leads in only direction.
To death.

PRAY FOR US

PRAY FOR US
Pray for us tonight
As we enter the house.
Candles light the way
Through the heavy darkness.
Our hearts beat as one
While the front door slams shut.
We’re locked in this sham,
A party held for none.
Gargoyles grin at us
From their posts on the stairs.
Candles lead upstairs
And down to the basement.
We must get out now,
Time is at a standstill.

THE HOUSE IS CALLING TO YOU

End House sits alone and deserted.
Its shutters torn and hanging.
Furniture upended.
Shattered pictures.
Shattered dreams.
What happened to the family?
Open the door.
Walk up the battered staircase.
Past the broken statues.
Where did the family disappear to?
A house ravaged by a storm.
Attacked inside out.
A storm not felt by the neighbors.
The town spared.
What happened two years ago?
The house is calling to you.
It wants answers.

It wants you.
